What grade or subject you will be teaching?
Hendrickson: I will be teaching seventh and eighth grade English, reading, American Literature, speech and debate.

Where is your hometown?
Hendrickson: My hometown is Morton.

Where you graduated from high school and in what year?
Hendrickson: I graduated from Morton High School in 1984

Where you graduated from college, year and what your degree is?
Hendrickson: I graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in English and my teaching certificate.

Do you have any previous teaching experience, including subbing or student teaching?
Hendrickson: Yes, my first job was in Eastern Oregon, where I taught for three years. I returned to East Lewis County and have done a lot of substitute teaching for several districts and taught at Centralia College. I also spent seven years working with the Morton After School program

Tell us about your family?
Hendrickson: I am married to Chuck Hendrickson and we live on a farm west of Morton. We have three children and several wonderful grandchildren and great-grandchildren. My mom, Shirley lives in Morton and my sister, Becky Justice lives in Glenoma.

What you like to do in your free time?
Hendrickson: Decorating is my greatest hobby. I do any type of crafting. I also enjoy reading, gardening, working with my husband on our farm along with hiking and camping.

Why did you pursue a career in education?
Hendrickson:  I pursued a career in education because I had wonderful teachers at Morton High School including Georgina Winsberg, Cheryl Shondel and Geneva Partridge. They instilled in me a passion for learning and encouraged me in my career choice.

What is your goal for the upcoming school year?
Hendrickson: My goals this year are to improve student’s academic performance, teach the students perseverance and motivate them to set and meet concrete academic and life goals.
